Musical Mozart!: I am Music
(Act I Scene 2)
Wolfgang:
I’m not a poet, I cannot speak poetically
I simply follow the way my heart falls
I’m not a painter either
I cannot paint light and shade, the beauties of the world
I merely draw hopes in my dreams
I’m not an actor
I don’t know how to act
I want to live without pretension
I want you to see me just as I am
I am major, I am minor
I am chord, I melody
My words, my phrases
My feelings, my rhythm Are all in my music
I am beats, I am rests, I am harmony
I’m forte, I’m piano, dance and fantasy
I am, I am music
I can’t imagine a world without music
I’m not a philosopher
I don’t know anything
Among the crowd and the din
That’s where I always am
I don’t know about manners
I’d rather be called rude than be bored
I don’t want an ordinary life
I’ll go searching for freedom and glory
Not knowing where it will lead me
Love me just the way I am
I am major, I am minor
I am chord, I melody
My words, my phrases
My feelings, my rhythm Are all in my music
I am beats, I am rests, I am harmony
I’m forte, I’m piano, dance and fantasy
I am, I am music
Love me just the way I am
